Knee Issues...

Over the last month Emma has been complaining about pain in her left hip and knee. I finally made an appointment to have it looked at and we found out that her knee cap is shifting and her quad muscles were all inflamed from her bones growing faster than her muscles. Since she exercises and dances so many days a week/hours a day her muscles are getting overused and that is what is causing her pain. Her doctor said they see this a lot with young dancers. Her doctor prescribed a knee sleeve that she is suppose to wear constantly. It helps compress the knee and keep it from moving around. She also has to do 2-3 sessions a week of physical therapy to strengthen her muscles the correct way. Since starting physical therapy she hasn't been having as much pain. Yay! I think she really enjoys going. The staff is nice, remembers her name, and she says the best part is she gets a massage on her quad muscles each time from her therapist Lindsay. (hahaha) As always I am so proud of her. She works hard in all that she does, physical therapy is no exception.
